About the Ragdoll

The Ragdoll is a large cat breed known for being placid, affectionate, relaxed. It suits owners who can give it consistent routine, company and the right amount of daily activity. Before choosing a Ragdoll, be honest about your space, your climate and the time you can commit each day. In Pakistan's summer heat, plan indoor rest during the hottest hours and always keep fresh water available.

Exercise & activity

Give this cat vertical space, scratching posts and 10–15 minutes of interactive play twice a day. Wand toys and food puzzles keep an indoor Ragdoll fit and out of trouble.

Grooming & coat care

Brush regularly to keep the coat healthy and control loose hair around the home. Check ears weekly, trim nails every few weeks and brush teeth several times a week. Bathe only when needed with a pet-safe shampoo — frequent bathing strips natural oils and irritates the skin.

Feeding & nutrition

Feed a complete, age-appropriate diet in measured meals rather than free feeding. Two to three small meals a day suits most cats, with wet food helping water intake. Watch body condition monthly: you should feel the ribs easily and see a waist from above. Adjust portions rather than relying only on the label.

Training & socialisation

Use positive reinforcement for litter habits, carrier training and nail trims. Never punish a cat — it damages trust and usually worsens the behaviour.

Health to watch for

Like every breed, the Ragdoll has some inherited tendencies — joint problems, eye conditions, dental disease and weight gain are the most common issues seen in practice. Larger breeds are especially prone to joint and heart conditions, so keep them lean. Stay on schedule with vaccination, deworming and parasite prevention, and book an annual check-up (twice yearly for seniors) so problems are caught early.
