Goat Farming Basics: Breeds, Housing and Feeding

Beetal, Teddy and Kamori — picking the right goat and keeping the herd productive.

Breeds

  • Beetal: dual purpose, good milk and meat, adapts widely
  • Teddy: small, prolific breeder, popular for quick fattening
  • Kamori: Sindh milk breed, striking looks, higher market value

Housing

Allow 1–1.5 m² per adult, dry raised floor, good airflow but no direct draught. Keep kids separate at night.

Feeding

Green fodder plus tree leaves, a mineral block always available, and concentrate for pregnant or lactating does.

Health

PPR vaccination annually, deworming every 3 months, hoof trimming twice a year.
