Bringing Home a New Pet: First 7 Days

Set up, settle in, first vet visit and the mistakes new owners make in week one.
Before arrival
Prepare a quiet corner with bedding, water, food bowl and a safe toy. Remove wires, chemicals and small swallowable items.
Day 1–2
Keep visitors away, let the animal explore at its own pace. Same food as before to avoid stomach upset.
Day 3–4
Book the first vet visit: general check, weight, deworming and vaccination plan.
Day 5–7
Start a routine — fixed feeding, walking and sleeping times. Routine is what makes a calm animal.
