A practical feeding chart by age and weight, plus the human foods that are dangerous for dogs.
How much to feed
Puppies (2–6 months) eat 3–4 small meals a day. Adults do well on two meals, morning and evening.
As a rule of thumb, an adult dog eats 2–3% of its body weight daily in balanced food — a 20 kg dog needs roughly 400–600 g.
Never feed
- Chocolate, grapes and raisins
- Onion and garlic
- Cooked bones that splinter
- Xylitol sweetened products
Signs the diet is working
Firm stools, a shiny coat, steady energy and a visible waist when viewed from above.
